Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour, September 2013
We took a 4-day tour organised by your company in September, from Fes to Marrakesh via Erg Chebbi, Boulmain Dades and Ait-Benhaddou, with Khalid as our driver. You also arranged accommodation for us in Meknes, Fes and Marrakesh, which made the whole trip easy for us.
Here finally is our feedback about the tour.
We were extremely happy with the tour. It met all our expectations and we were delighted with what we got to see and do. The only thing that we would have changed was the location of our accommodation in Boulmain Dades as we would have preferred to be in the valley, where we could have enjoyed an evening and/or morning walk, rather than on the main road (we stayed at Kasbah Porte du Dades). However, that’s really a small thing and we certainly enjoyed our stay there as Lycin was an excellent host and the hotel was really comfortable.
We can’t speak highly enough of Khalid! From the moment we met him we established a rapport which meant we could relax and enjoy ourselves. He loved his morning coffee stop, which we also enjoyed. Although you had been clear that his role was as a driver rather than a guide (which is fair), he gave us lots of information about both Morocco and the areas we visited. His driving was excellent, he was on time and kept to the agreed itinerary, yet was also flexible if we wanted to stay somewhere longer. We really enjoyed his company and this made a big difference to our enjoyment of the trip.
All the arrangements went smoothly. The overnight camel trek was great and our Berber guide Kabash was knowledgeable and friendly. Your advice for what to take was helpful, especially zip-lock bags. Another highlight was the visit to Telouat, and the Kasbah tour with Mohammed, who was delightful and knowledgeable. We bought a carpet from him and as we didn’t have the cash we took it with us to Marrakesh where Idriss from your office came to our riad to get the money the next day. We were really appreciative of this flexibility and the trust put in us (although acknowledge that you had all our contact details!).
We loved our time in Morocco. We found the people friendly, the culture and history fascinating and of course the food was delicious. From the vast landscape of the Andes to the barren desert-like region around Erfoud, the beautiful green valleys full of date palms and the fascinating kasbahs, we enjoyed it all. The accommodation you organised was of a very good standard and we felt very much at home in each place. I have done a few Trip Advisor reviews and will finish these soon I hope!
We would highly recommend your company to other travellers and are happy for you to use any of our comments in your promotions.
You might also be interested in our experience getting to Fes. We took the train from Meknes and were unwittingly targeted by a tout from one of the tanneries. He was actually quite impressive in recognizing our accent and pretending to have a nephew living in NZ, and we had no suspicion that this was all part of the scam! He did help us find our way to the riad (Fes Kettani) which we had been a bit concerned about as other travelers had had difficulty getting to the right gate, so we were grateful of that help. It took us a while to figure out what was going on, as we were taken on a “tour” of part of the medina, to the tannery shop, and a carpet shop where we certainly got the hard-sell. We did buy some leather goods (which we had wanted) and managed to bargain a reasonably good price for them, so didn’t feel ripped off there, but we were somewhat surprised at how easily we got taken in. All part of the experience, and no harm done!
Many thanks for all your planning and assistance, and please say a big hello to Khalid from us.

Casablanca to Marrakech with Fes and the desert, October 2013
"I am back home now and still processing the wonderful time we spent in Morocco. Thank you so much for organizing the superb trip. Everything was perfect, from the exotic Riads/Ksars, amazing desert camp, the camel named Jimi Hendrix, tea with a Nomad family, the beauty of the Moroccan countryside, the olives, tajines, Kasbahs, Fes, tea with a Berber family in their home, the crazy road to Marrakech, Marrakech!, lost in the medina, hammam bath, glorious sunsets, spectacular views, many laughs over language barriers and fun with the wonderful Morrocan people. My list goes.
However I can not leave out our fabulous guide Mohammed, he was simply the best. Very patient and accommodating, knowledgable, kind, friendly and always on time and always there for us. And Said, our driver, was excellent as well, those roads were sometimes rather crazy, he was very cautious and I never felt uneasy. (I am not good on mountain roads!) I miss them (not the roads).
Needless to say we have had a trip of a lifetime and look forward to planning our next. We will definitely recommend your company to anyone who wants to experience a well planned and marvellous trip to Morocco!"
