4x4 Overland Morocco to Mali
December 2008 – February 2009
A 4x4 self-drive tour that leaves UK mid-December and returns early-February. The route to Mali is through Morocco, the Western Sahara and Mauritania. Highlights of the trip to include the desert town of Timbuktu, the Festival in the Desert as Essakane (an oasis town in the northern part of Mali) and the Dogon country. Requirements include a fully serviced 4x4 in good repair; basic equipment is needed including spares and camping gear. Each vehicle will need to be self-sufficient although the group will travel and work together and be accompanied by a Moroccan guide to assist with border crossings and local arrangements. This is an adventure, not a luxury trip, and all the more enjoyable for it. You will return home with a great sense of achievement, fantastic memories and amazing pictures.
