Celebrate New Year Eve 2009 around a campfire in the Sahara and dance to the rhythms of the desert. Join our 5-day Atlas Desert tour from Marrakech to celebrate New Year Eve in the Erg Chigaga dunes and ride a camel in the Sahara on New Year's Day.
Our trip starts in Marrakech from where we cross the highest Atlas mountain road pass, of Tizi-n-Tichka, to travel along the Draa River Valley to the desert frontier town of Mhamid. From Mhamid, we travel over a desert wilderness, via the Sacred Heart Oasis, to the sand dunes of Erg Chigaga. Celebrate New Year’s Eve under a star-filled African night sky, ride a camel in the Sahara and sleep in a desert camp under the stars. Included in the trip are the World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou and a traditional Berber souk in the village of Telouet.
