Belly Dancing in Morocco
Belly Dancing Morocco Tours, and much more, with Mia Serra
2009 dates to be published - A Belly Dance Adventure in Morocco
Beginning in Marrakech we will take in the colours and scents of the Souk – perusing an array of goods including leather shoes, jewellery, spices and belly dance accessories with our Moroccan guide.
At dinner, in an authentic Moroccan restaurant, we will sample the delights and flavours of North Africa and then return to our riad hotel, set around a courtyard, to sit on the roof terrace under the stars and dream.
The next day we head south, across the Atlas Mountain pass of the Tizi-n-Test, towards the pink walled town of Taroudant with a break for lunch. Our accommodation for the next few days is a former Berber palace converted into a luxury hotel with swimming pool, gardens, and palatial bedrooms.
In the mornings Mia will teach a 1.5 hour stretch, strength and meditation class based on Pilates, Yoga and Sufi. The emphasis will be on muscle toning and core strength while stretching out the accumulated tension in our bodies and breathing it out with meditative techniques. Note: Mia is a certified pilates instructor and has been studying and teaching Sufi practices for 10 years.
In the afternoons you can take the opportunity to relax by the pool or explore the local village. Other options are a Moroccan cooking lesson, a talk on the rugs hand-woven by Moroccan women with the (optional) opportunity of buying one and a trip to the souk (market) in the town of Taroudant.
The evening is when we dance. Mia will be running a 1.5 hour mixed level class suitable for beginners and more advanced students. This is an opportunity to work in a more intimate group in an inspiring setting, with plenty of personal attention. Mia will also be offering a limited number of private lessons during the afternoons.
On Friday we make our way back to Marrakesh and celebrate with a lavish or quiet dinner in town - you decide.
The tour ends on Saturday with a transfer to the airport. Or extend your trip for another day to explore Marrakech, visit the souks for some souvenirs and visit a luxury hammam for a steam bath, scrub, massage and seaweed wrap treatment.
Although aimed at women, boyfriends and partners, non-dancing friends and relatives are welcome to join the trip.
