Our New Year Morocco tours include the Erg Chebbi dunes close to Merzouga and run Marrakech to Marrakech, Marrakech to Fes or Fes to Marrakech. The desert tours depart Marrakech on the 29th (5day trip) or 30th (4day trip) of December however these dates are flexible and we can, if you prefer, organise a tailor-made New Year Trip to match your requirements. On request, we can meet you at the airport in Marrakech or Fes and book riad accommodation in the medina before and after the trip.
Travel across the highest Atlas road pass Tizi-n-Tichka, with hair-pin mountain bends, and along the valley of one thousand kasbahs to reach the dunes of the Sahara. Sleep under the stars in our private camp and dance around a camp fire as Gnawa musicians twirl to the traditional rhythms of the desert. Camel trek at sunset across the Erg Chebbi dunes with a desert guide.
Our 4x4 New Year Eve Tours are suitable for everyone - couples, friends and families with children. Other highlights include the World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, Todra Gorge and the Kasbah of el Glaoui at Telouet.

4 day New Year Tour from Marrakech with Erg Chebbi
The 4 days New Year Desert Trip has just one night in the Erg Chebbi dunes and we recommend the 5 days trip, if you have time, to include a day to relax and explore in the desert.
30 December – Marrakech to Boumalne Dades
8am meet at Cafe de France at the edge of the Djemaa el Fna. Transfer across the highest Atlas road pass of Tizi-n-Tichka, with hair-pin mountain bends, to Ouarzazate. Break the journey for lunch and continue to Boumalne Dades. Overnight in hotel
31 December – Boumalne to Erg Chebbi Dunes. New Year Celebration
9am to Merzouga via Tinjdad, Erfoud and Rissani. Arrive in the desert in time for lunch (Berber pizza) and time to relax in our private nomad-tented camp from where you can safely walk in the immediate dunes. Sunset camel ride with desert guides. New Year Celebration around a camp fire with Gnawa musicians to drum in the New Year. Overnight in our private desert camp
01 January – Merzouga to Ouarzazate via Todra Gorge
Wake early and climb a dune to sit, in the pre-dawn stillness, to watch the sun rise (7am or sleep in). After breakfast, transfer to Ouarzazate with a detour at Tinerhir to visit Todra Gorge, the highest oasis valley gorge in Morocco with 300m sheer cliffs and a mouth just 20m wide. Overnight in hotel
02 January – Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou and Telouet
8am visit the World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most spectacular ksours (fortified villages) that once stood on the route of the lucrative caravan route through the Atlas mountains to the fondouks of Marrakech. Continue through Ounila valley, via Animeter, to Telouet and visit the Kasbah of el Glaoui, former Berber War Lord and Pasha of Marrakech. Lunch and return across Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech to arrive late afternoon/early evening.
5 day New Year Tour from Marrakech with Erg Chebbi
The 5 days New Year Desert Trip includes two nights at a desert camp in the desert and a full day to relax, walk, sand board and explore with our drivers.
29 December– Marrakech to Boumalne Dades

9am to Merzouga via Tinjdad, Erfoud and Rissani. Arrive in the desert in time for lunch and time to relax in our private nomad-tented camp from where you can safely walk in the immediate dunes. Overnight in our private desert camp
31 December – Day to Relax and Explore. New Year Celebration
Wake early and climb a dune to sit, in the pre-dawn stillness, to watch the sun rise (7am or sleep in). Day to relax or explore with our drivers i.e. visit a nomad family on the far side of the dunes to see how they live in a desert environment. Join the clients arriving on the 4-day trip for lunch (Berber pizza) in our desert camp. Sunset camel ride with desert guides. New Year Celebration around a camp fire with Gnawa musicians to drum in the New Year. Overnight in our private desert camp
