Casablanca Day Trips for Cruise Ship Passengers

Casablanca is conveniently placed for the following day trips and excursions for cruise ships passengers with just one day in port:

  • Casablanca and Rabat – Visit the Hassan II Mosque (closed Fridays) and continue to Rabat for a guided tour.
  • Marrakech – Guided walking tour to include the Koutoubia Mosque, souks, Saadian Tombs, B’hia Palace and of course the Djemaa el Fna. Lunch to be taken in a typical Berber café at the edge of the Djemaa el Fna and, time permitting, visit the Majorelle Gardens owned by Yves St Laurent.

Casablanca to Marrakech Tours

Casablanca to Marrakech direct

Spend 2 days and 1 night or more discovering the sites of Marrakech e.g. the gardens and palaces, souks and Djemaa el Fna.

Casablanca to Marrakech via Fes

Spend 3 days or 4 days touring the North of Morocco to include Fez, Meknes, Volubilis, Chefchaouen, Rabat and the waterfalls at Ouzoud.

Casablanca to Marrakech City and Desert Tour

Spend 5 days, 6 days, one week or two weeks touring from Casablanca to Marrakech and include the highlights of North Morocco e.g. Fes and Volubilis.

Head South from Fes to the desert village of Merzouga via Azrou, cedar forests where Barbary apes live and the Ziz valley gorge.

At Merzouga it is possible to go camel trekking in the Erg Chebbi sand dunes to experience the Sahara at the leisurely pace of a camel and sleep overnight in a nomad tent at a desert camp - or take a sunset camel ride and overnight in a hotel at the dune lines.

Return to Marrakech via one of the most picturesque routes through the South with oasis gorges, the valley of one thousand kasbahs, Ait Benhaddou, the Atlas mountains and Berber villages.

After a couple of days to discover Marrakech there is the option of visiting Essaouira and then continuing to Casablanca to catch your flight home.

Casablanca Sahara Tours and Camel Treks

For a Sahara trip from Casablanca, with an Erg Chebbi camel trek from the desert town of Merzouga, we recommend a circular tour that includes the medieval city of Fes. From Fes it is possible to reach the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and camel trek with a local guide to sleep overnight in a tented camp in the desert. From Merzouga it is then a two day’s drive, because of the distance, to Marrakech. The route from Merzouga to Marrakech is via Todra gorge or Dades gorge, the route of one thousand kasbahs, rose valley, skoura palmerie, the Atlas Film Studios at Ouarzazate and the World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou.

An alternative route for a Casablanca desert tour, that offers a more authentic Moroccan desert experience, is via Marrakech and along the Draa river valley to the protected desert wilderness of the Erg Chigaga.
