"The tour was really really wonderful. The care you took at every detail was quite evident and it was great to be able to see so much in so little time. Thank you again for a wonderful introduction to the gorgeously stunning Sahara."
"I would like to thank you and the Authentic Morocco team for unforgettable days. Staying in the dessert camp, seeing the sunrise and especially enjoying New Years night at the campfire made it a special experience to me."
"Thanks for everything, I would reccomend your conpany to anyone."
"Thank you for all the wonderful organization and attention to details. You made this trip memorable! Also, thanks for putting together a very eclectic group of fun, smart and generous people. This was a New Year hard to forget!"
"I would like to let you know how much I enjoyed the trip and the company of our mates. I would also like to join Manuela in her acknowledge of your savoir faire."
"I also wanted to say thank you to all of you for this wonderful trip!"
In October 2011 I spent 10 days living at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes and it was, as always, an amazing experience. I saw thunderous skies with driving rain, a flash flood river and a full moon in just a few days.
Every day I walked in the dunes at sunrise and sunset, sheltering in the hotel during the heat of day to catch up with emails. It was a pleasure to meet so many Authentic Morocco clients as they arrived in the desert to camel trek and overnight in our deep desert camp.
"I am still in awe of our amazing adventure in Morocco. Every day brought a new visual extravaganza. I will remember the experience and you all (Adhoul, Mahmjoub, Rasheed and Liz) fondly. Thankyou for a safe and well planned tour."
"I really had a ball. When I arrived back home my wife, Ineke, noticed how excited I was having had this opportunity. The next enjoyable task is to sift through the 1000 odd images & relate them to the sketches that I made at the time. Thanks for all your help & input into this trip. I really enjoyed it."
"We thoroughly enjoyed our New Year trip with Authentic Morocco and really appreciated all the hard work that you put in to make it a smooth, fun and memorable tour. The whole trip was impeccably organised from beginning to end and we were very pleased with the standard of the accommodation, transport and also the food and drink that was plentiful and delicious. The guides were great fun to be around, very informative, and we admired their excellent driving skills through lots of varied terrain. The trip was a fantastic way to see all the different landscapes of southern Morocco and to learn about life there."
These images were taken by Liz Williams on the annual photography tour of Morocco that we run in May each year.
We choose this time of year as Spring arrives late in the mountains and the contrast of the green wheat fields in the gorges where poppies are hand weeded by Berber women, the pink roses grown around Kelaa Mgouna where children sell perfumed garlands and the dunes of the Sahara where the shadows create classic images all present wonderful opportunities for a photographer.
This selection of drawings follows a route from Tanger to Fes, over the mountains as far south as Tamegroute, then via Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech and finishing in the picturesque coastal town of Essaouira in May 2010.
The originals measure 9x13cm and are drawn from observation with willow charcoal and charcoal pencil on gesso-primed paper.

These images were taken by Liz Williams whilst trekking, with mules to carry the kit, in the High Atlas Mountains above the traditional Berber village of Telouet.
Having never trekked here before it was both a surprise and delight to reach Lake Tamda - somewhere I have wanted to visit for ages.
It was, in all honesty, a personal struggle to walk all day up the mountain side but hugely rewarding walking over the ridge to see the lake glistening like a jewel in the sunlight.
These images were taken by Liz Williams, whilst on a tour of Morocco, in July 2009. I set out from Marrakech, on the train, to Fes - it was an interesting journey but, by the end of almost 8 hours, I was happy to get off.
Fes, as always, was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed a walking tour with our guide Idriss who showed me a few sites that I had never seen belore. From Fes I joined a 3 day desert tour to Marrakech that included one night in the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga. After the trip I visited some nomad families in the High Atlas.

Feedback: "Thanks again to both Liz and Giles for a great trip. Great locations, accomodation, even enjoyed the food. Although the days were busy, it felt like a relaxing trip and that was down to the fun and friendly way in which you both led the trip, with 2 great drivers too ..."
"It was an unforgettable experience to see in the New Year from our desert camp - to dance around the camp fire with Berber drummers, to walk and play among the dunes for hours on New Year's day and watch the sun set from the vantage point of our camels." Keiran McCarthy

Feedback from a client, 2008 Photo Tour:
"The research and effort that had obviously gone into the planning was first class, and the result was an excellent variety of sites and scenery, which in most cases it would have been impossible to find alone. In terms of photographic opportunities, these were terrific: from the gorges, barren landscapes and fertile valley floors of the Atlas Mountains, to the assorted Berber nomads appearing in all kinds of places, to the sand dunes of the Sahara, and finishing up getting lost in the souks of Marrakech, there was something for everyone."
These images were taken on our 2007 Desert Tour, from Marrakech, to celebrate New Year's Eve 2008 in the dunes of the Erg Chigaga. We stayed in a desert camp and danced, as we do each year, under the stars around a camp fire to the rhythms of the desert. Bar available.
Our next New Year trip will start in Marrakech on 30th December 2009 to celebrate New Year Eve 2010 in Erg Chigaga.
